The Ministry of Labor and the ILO hold a meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Fair and Efficient Migration Project in the ASEAN Region

Phnom Penh: On Monday morning, June 29, 2026, at the Cambodiana Hotel, Mr. Seng Sakda, Secretary of State, represented by His Excellency Mr. Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, presided over the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Fair and Effective Work Migration Partnership Project Advisory Committee Meeting to discuss the framework of program activities, strengthen cooperation on decent work, labor migration governance, and provide input on more effective project implementation.

This important meeting was organized by the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training in collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO) with the participation of representatives of ministries and institutions of the Royal Government of Cambodia, Mr. Christian Disler, Deputy Director of Cooperation, Swiss Consulate General for Development and Cooperation, Mr. Raymart Walker, Second Secretary of the Australian Embassy in Cambodia, Ms. Rebecca Napier Moore, Senior Technical Officer of the International Labor Organization, United Nations agencies, employers’ associations, trade unions, national organizations, international organizations and development partners.

On that occasion, the Secretary of State confirmed that the Tripartite Action Triangle program has already been implemented in Cambodia in two phases. Phase 1 began on June 10, 2010, and ended on May 31, 2015, and Phase 2 began on November 1, 2015, and ended on September 30, 2025, and the project has been ongoing for another five years in Phase 3, which will run from April 2026 to March 2021.

Please note that The ASEAN Fair and Effective Labour Migration Partnership Project Advisory Committee Meeting has the following key objectives: (1) to present and discuss the overall framework, scope and activities of the programme’s interventions in line with key national priorities; (2) to build a shared understanding of key programme strategies, work plans and opportunities for enhanced cooperation to promote decent work for all, strengthen labour migration governance and skills development for labour migrants; and (3) to review, discuss, provide input and agree on the work plan for project implementation in Cambodia 2026-2027.
