Speaking at the important forum, the Minister said that AI has become a key strategic driving force in transforming and improving economic systems, production chains, governance and society worldwide. However, the Minister also stressed that AI can also bring challenges such as economic disparities, disruptions to the labor market, and concerns over ethics, privacy, and security, which require a clear governance framework to protect the interests of the people.
Furthermore, the Minister stated that under the wise and pragmatic leadership of President Hun Sen, Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Digital transformation is a key pillar of Cambodia’s national development agenda, clearly defined in the Pentagon Strategy-Phase 1, and Cambodia is using AI to increase innovation, productivity, competitiveness, and strengthen public services, aiming to achieve the 2050 vision of becoming a high-income country.
Finally, the Minister shared some key ideas to ensure that AI will play a key role for shared prosperity in Asia, including: (1) investing in human capital and digital knowledge, (2) boosting research and innovation, (3) promoting responsible and ethical AI governance, (4) strengthening regional cooperation, and (5) ensuring an enabling environment for AI technology development.
