Phnom Penh: Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Narcotics Control Authority, Mr. Neth Savoeun, expressed optimism that Cambodia will achieve the goal in line with the words of the Prime Minister, who highlighted that the fight against drugs in Cambodia will change from the word “weakening” to “cleaning the surface of the lake and keeping the surface of the lake clean and clear.”

On the occasion of presiding over the celebration of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, 2026 under the theme “Together to Respond to the Drug Problem in a New and Creative Context,” Mr. Neth Savoeun is strongly optimistic that Cambodian society will achieve the specific goals that everyone desires, in line with the valuable words of the Prime Minister, who highlighted that the fight against drugs in Cambodia will change from the word “weakening” to “cleaning the surface of the lake.” And keep the lake surface clean and clear at all times” transforming a national society into a strong, safe, orderly and sustainable development society.
 
He added that Cambodia in particular is a country with a strong and dynamic anti-drug force from all sectors, with high willpower and innovative response.

Therefore, preparing for a drug-free environment in organizations, whether state or private, is an important factor for our society.”
 

At the same time, the head of the National Authority for Combating Drug Abuse sent a message to parents and guardians to continue to pay high attention to the education, care, and monitoring of their children by spending enough time for regular conversations, listening, and counseling, because the family is the first and most important barrier for children and youth. Therefore, parents must understand the development of their children, including their studies, social relationships, and online activities, in order to be able to detect signs of challenges and intervene in a timely manner.
