National Assembly approves road amendment bill by 114 votes

Phnom Penh: The National Assembly of Cambodia, after thorough discussion according to procedure, approved the draft law on amending the Road Law, which amended 15 articles of the Road Law unanimously by 114 votes of all members of the National Assembly to respond to socio-economic development at the request of the Royal Government.

This approval was made at an extraordinary session of the 7th National Assembly on the morning of June 22, 2026, under the chairmanship of Samdech Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly.

The draft law on amending the Law on Roads is an amendment of 15 articles to the Law on Roads, which was promulgated by Royal Decree dated May 4, 2014, in response to the socio-economic development of the country.

The 15 articles of the Road Law that have been amended are: Article 25, Article 26, Article 48, Article 49, Article 50, Article 56, Article 57, Article 58, Article 59, Article 60, Article 61, Article 66, Article 67, Article 68 and Article 69.

As highlighted by the Royal Government in its statement, the draft law on amending the Road Law was prepared in response to requests from the private sector.
