Phnom Penh: Cambodian unions and political analysts say that the provision of tens of thousands of job opportunities through increased investment is a sign of the promotion of labor rights, reflecting positive factors in Cambodia’s economy and political stability, in line with the spirit of International Labor Day on May 1.

Mr. Kim Chansamnang, President of the National Alliance of Trade Unions of Cambodia (NACC), said, “Companies, factories, and enterprises related to the textile and garment sector are always announcing recruitment of tens of thousands of workers every day, and many new companies are opening up continuously. “Thousands of job opportunities have been provided to Cambodian citizens in abundance.”

He said, “The growth in investment has also increased the demand for labor, which is a good sign of economic growth and the creation of new job opportunities in the country, reflecting positive economic factors and political stability under the leadership of the 7th Royal Government of Cambodia in promoting labor rights in line with the spirit of International Labor Day on May 1.”

Mr. Chan Samnang considered the increase in investment to provide tens of thousands of job opportunities for Cambodian workers and citizens, and it is an important evidence of the promotion of labor rights that the Royal Government through the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training and the Cambodian Trade Unions celebrate annually.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, as of the first quarter of 2026, the number of enterprises, companies, and factories has increased to 47,029 enterprises, with a total number of workers increasing to approximately 2.3 million.
In addition, more than 650,000 people who returned from Thailand have received continuous employment. Of these, 330,000 people have been employed in factories, enterprises, large agricultural farms and companies, and approximately 320,000 others have been employed in handicrafts, restaurants, beverage shops, workshops, farms, plantations and other business activities in villages, communes and districts near their homes.

At the same time, with its resilience and economic growth, especially the momentum of new investment projects, Cambodia still has a high demand for labor, providing an average of 80,000 job opportunities every week for its citizens.
All these indicators show positive factors in both politics and economics, reflecting the confidence and trust of foreign investors in Cambodia at present.

For Mr. Thong Mengdavit, a geopolitics and security analyst, said, “Cambodia is currently under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen. We have observed that economic growth and investment capital have increased significantly through the implementation of economic diplomacy policies.”

He called on all enterprise owners, establishments, workers and professional organizations to continue to adhere to existing laws and legal standards and promote a culture of compliance with the law. He stated that this is an important factor for promoting competition, attracting investment and creating decent job opportunities for workers, employees and citizens in the future.
