Phnom Penh: Ms. Sovann Vannarath, Permanent Secretary of State, High Representative of Mr. Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, presided over the celebration of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2026 under the theme “Building a Culture of Prevention: Strengthening and Expanding Safety and Health Systems in the World of Work” which was co-organized by Health and Poverty Action (HPA) and a network of civil society partners with the participation of approximately 290 representatives of trade unions, employers’ associations, the International Labor Organization (ILO), civil society organizations concerned with labor rights, and workers, both inside and outside the system, on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at the Dara Airport Hotel.

The World Day for Safety and Health at Work is celebrated by ILO member countries every year on April 28. For 2026, the Royal Government of Cambodia has set the theme “Together to continue protecting workers from heat stress and promoting mental health in the workplace” to celebrate this day in line with the global theme “Together to ensure a work environment with psychosocial well-being”.

Speaking on the occasion, Permanent Secretary of State Emphasizing the importance of improving occupational safety and health conditions to ensure decent work for all. She also emphasized that all stakeholders, including the Royal Government, employers and workers, must work together to fulfill their roles in promoting a culture of occupational safety and health to enhance workers’ well-being and productivity.
