Phnom Penh: April 27, 2026, the lack of resilient transport and logistics capacity remains a barrier to trade and regional connectivity in Cambodia.
To help address these challenges, the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors today approved the first phase of the Multiphase Programmatic Approach (MPA) for the Cambodia Regional Connectivity Improvement (CRCI) program, with a total financing package of US$300 million from the International Development Association.
The first phase, worth US$150 million, will improve resilient transport connectivity along parts of Asian Highway 21 (AH21) and strengthen national logistics management capacity.
The program is expected to benefit more than 1.6 million people, including road users and communities living along the road. By improving road and logistics systems, the CRCI program aims to support job creation, expand access to markets and services, and stimulate private investment in sectors such as logistics, agro-industry, transportation services, and tourism.
“This program demonstrates the Royal Government of Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening regional connectivity and our transport infrastructure to better serve our citizens and businesses,” said Peng Purna, Minister of Public Works and Transport.
“The World Bank is committed to supporting Cambodia as it strives to strengthen the infrastructure and systems necessary for inclusive growth and quality jobs,” said Carlos Felipe Jaramillo, World Bank Vice President for East Asia and the Pacific.
