Phnom Penh: The International Diabetes Federation has officially recognized the “Glandular and Diabetes Unit of Calmette Hospital” with high honors as the first “Centre d’excellence en diabetologie” in Cambodia.
Professor Kong Pramoon, Director General of Calmette Hospital, said that the high honor of being the first Center of Excellence in Diabetology in Cambodia is the achievement of the efforts of leaders at all levels, especially the diabetes team of Calmette Hospital. The professor said that this achievement began a long time ago under the leadership of the former director-general, who is currently the Minister of Health, who prioritized innovation at Calmette Hospital, becoming the first Insulin Pump Center in Cambodia, and training doctors, nurses, and DES students to recognize and implement the use of this new technology.
Professor Kong Phong added that the activities have now been expanded to include Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM using the Dashboard System) to improve the efficiency of patient monitoring, as well as many other modern devices such as: Fundus Camera, Sudo Scan, Vascular Doppler Ultrasound, Thyroid and Cytopuncture Ultrasound, and finally DEXA Scan for measuring bone and body composition. These devices not only help treat patients, but also create research opportunities according to international standards. Because of its innovation, investment and teamwork, it has fulfilled all the conditions to become a specialized center of the Fédération Internationale du Diabète.
